First generation (2001-2007)
The model car was shown in 1999 and 2000 and its full production began in late 2000 as a vehicle for 2001. The features like the sheet metal components, driveline and engine are shared from the Tundra model and also shares the chassis features except multi link axle rear suspension and rear disc brakes.
The Toyota Sequoia was nominated for the award of North American Truck of the Year in 2001. The vehicle gained minor updates in 2005 and gained the more powerful engine fitted with VVT-I, LED backlit gauges and five speed automatic transmission.

The second generation model was introduced in 2007 as a model vehicle for 2008 and came with the 4.7 liter 2UZ-FE V8 engine that produce 276 hp, 5.7 liter 3UR-FE V8 engine that produce 381 hp and 4.6 liter 1UR-FE V8 engine that produce 310 hp. The model is available in two transmissions such as the 6-speed automatic transmission and the 5-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle has the wheel base of 3099 mm and the length, width and the height of the vehicle are 5210 mm, 2029 mm and 1895 mm respectively. The height of Platinum and Limited models is 1910 mm and the vehicle is related to the Toyota Tundra.
