The 2009 Toyota Sequoia is released with no major changes when compared with its predecessor model launched in 2008. It is designed based on the chassis of Tundra pickup truck from the Toyota. The model shares most of the features from the Tundra except the independent rear suspension. The Toyota Sequoia is offered in two different models like the Limited and the SR5 along with the Platinum model.

The Limited and the SR5 models are featured with 4.7 liter V8 engine that produces 276 hp and has five speed automatic transmissions. The standard on the Platinum model is the 5.7 liter V8 engine that produces 381 hp and offers 6-speed automatic transmission.
All the Toyota Sequoia cars come with either the four wheel drive or the four wheel drive and has the maximum towing capacity of 10,000 lb. The models released in 2009 with 5.7 liter V8 engine can be equipped to work on E85 ethanol blended fuel or on gasoline. The safety features available in the new Toyota Sequoia include front side air bags, ABS, curtain side air bags that cover all the rows, antiskid system and the traction control system. The standard features in all the models include telescopic and tilt steering column and 3-zone climate control system. Optional or standard features based on the model are adaptive cruise control, rear view camera, power folding third row seat, navigation and DVD entertainment system and the adjustable air suspension system.
